Ris Rysdam's History

It all started in the jungles in some country. Ris (at the time not his name) was born as one of the spotted leopards. He never knew his mother, for a month after he was born she had disappeared. He learned how to hunt and survive on his own. During this time he had also learned of the two-legged things that threatened everything he knew. They tore down his protective trees, dug up the dirt he ran across and killed his food. For a year and a half, he fought to survive. Rest was definitely a luxury he could not afford.

And on one of those nights he had actually fallen asleep, his life forever changed. Ris was awakened by the unnatural sounds that the two-leggers always had. He had been brought to a full state of awareness and began to run away from the sounds. He climbed up into one of the trees and waited patiently. His waiting, though, was a bad idea, for the next thing he knew he was laying on the ground in pain. He growled in frustration as he realized the two-leggers had surrounded him.

Ris struggled to get back to his feet, but realized his left hind leg was not working at all. He could feel the two-leggers arrogance and hatred towards him, and all it did was anger him more and more. Ris finally did stand up to face his enemies, but he was kicked back down. That was when all hell broke loose. Ris roared in frustration and proceeded to tear and rip through each and every single one of the two-leggers that had accosted him. When he finished, there was nothing left but blood and gore and Ris looked over the scene. He towered over everything and looked at everything with a new type of sight. Unfortunately, it was all too much for him and he passed out.

When he next awoke, he was greeted by another two-legger. Ris jumped up, startled, and began to let out a menacing growl. The two-legger only smiled at Ris, but didn’t seem to be frightened. Instead, the two-legger only got down to its four legs and before Ris’ eyes changed into another one of his kind. Ris backed away in surprise, but kept his growl low and menacing.

“Stop. Friend,” the former two-legger said with the language shared by the cats. Ris did in fact stop, but was still wary as he stared at the strange being.

“Eyes-of-Rahjah,” the strange one introduced himself, but Ris said nothing. That was also the beginning of Ris’ training. During this training he learned the origins of his kind. He was Bastet and of the Bagheera. He learned the do’s and don’t’s. Most of all, he learned who his true enemies were and he learned ways to combat them. After a year of training he earned his Bastet name, Claws-of-Cahlash.

Afterwards, Ris and Eyes-of-Rahjah, separated ways and Ris never heard from him again. At this point, Ris had been alive for two and a half years, and his life had changed dramatically. He had begun to fight the humans and those of Asura’s brood to protect his homeland. It was also during one such fight he had met his mate.

He had raided one of the Pentex camps in the area and was killing anything affiliated with pentex. Nothing was stopping him. Yes, he did get injured in a few places, but it never stopped him. His rage led him through the whole fight. He fought for what seemed like hours and the blood covered him from head to tow, but in reality the fight lasted only minutes. After the fight he ripped off a talon off one of Asura’s brood and attached it to his necklace of trophies. He then shifted back to his breed form and began to head towards the depths of the jungle, when he heard a noise.

He stalked towards the noise quietly, rounding a broken tent and a few other broken objects. He stopped when he saw a pair of panther eyes staring at him. The panther was tied up like a common house cat and was injured in many places. They stared at each other in silence until Ris made the first move and began to tear through the bonds that bound the pantheress. Minutes later she was free, but couldn’t move due to her injuries. Ris took this chance and used one of the Gifts taught to him in order to heal her. After he was done, the pantheress gave him a “thank you” nudge, and oddly enough only left when Ris did. She stuck with him for another year, and he had named her, Shirasa. She had born him a litter of kitts, but tragedy followed Ris’ family.

Not soon after his kitts were born, he had gone hunting for food. He did not worry much in the ways of Pentex, for they had not bothered him for a few months. His only concern was the health and safety of his family. When he finally found suitable food, he began his trek back home to his den. When he neared his den, his nose became overloaded with the scent of blood. Ris began to walk more cautiously and more alertly. He began to pick up the distinct smells of machinery and saw the footsteps showing the sign that humans had been here.

Ris dropped the food from his jaws and stalked into his den, to only see a horrific sight. His mate, Shirasa, and their children had been slaughtered. His mate appeared to have died protecting the kitts, but she was no match against the power of guns and his kitts definitelys had no chance. Ris also noticed that the claws were missing from his mate and as was most of her teeth. Ris’ peace had been shattered in a matter of seconds and he roared with pure and utter rage. He stayed there for hours mourning their death, and in the middle of the night he made a vow. He vowed, “As long as I live and breath, all that serves Pentex and Asura will die by my tooth and by my claw. Gaia, Seline, Nala, Rahjah, and Cahlash. Bear witness to my vow and to the rage that burns within me.”

From that point on, Ris became a killing machine. He led guerilla raids and performed many tasks that slowed the onslaught of the Pentex in his jungle home. He fought and fought with barely any rest, but he did not care. Some of his brethren thought him to be mad. Some called him, Nala’s True Rage, but he cared not, for all he sought was the death of Asura’s brood and those who served Asura. He fought for four months in the jungle until he found out Pentex was mainly located in the United States.

He moved over to the States and that was when he adopted the name Ris Rysdam. Ris, to this day, can’t remember how he picked up the name, because he was still fueled with anger. In Atlanta, he resumed his fight and still people thought him crazy. Atlanta is also where he lost his right eye. A Swara by the name of Jay Sin had angered Ris to the point of fighting. The fight went badly and the final strike was a claw to the face, causing Ris’ eye to be torn out. By this time Ris was fours years old, and Ris’ rash behavior had begun to cool. He soon left Atlanta afterwards and began to traveling. Every now and again his exploits were shown on the news, but Ris only cared about his vow.

He began to have feelings that the Apocalypse was near. He knew it was coming close and it was in the middle of his fourth year of life he felt the need to form a pride. And formed one he did. The pride was aptly named, Claws of Nala, and it was a force to be reckoned with. Ris was beginning to feel some measure of happiness within his Pride the more and more they worked together. Things went to Hell, though, once again when the Apocalypse finally hit.

Ris’ assumptions were correct, and the Apocalypse did hit and it hit hard. Everything that served the destruction of Gaia, began a full out assault in every part of the world and Ris’ pride was there to meet every challenge. They fought and fought, moving from one place to another. They helped each of the Shifting breeds in their own way and moved on. Claws of Nala would not stop until the enemy was dead or they were dead. Unfortunately, as the months went by the members of Claws of Nala began to die. Ris’ only companions did die as the fights became harder, but Ris only pushed on determined to see the moon rise each night.

On the final days, Ris was once again alone. His pride members died honorably through their actions and Ris would miss them as though they were his family. He buried his necklace of war trophies in their honor and began his trek to find some rest, hopefully without any interruptions. As he walked what was left of the U.S. , he remembered a couple of his Pride members talking about a caern that wasn’t fully ran by the wolves, but also accepted any shifter. He had heard them talking about how it withstood all of Asura’s attacks and that it needed any help.

He turned and began making his way to the Sept of the Ocean’s Spire, and by this time he had been alive for five long and tough years. He traveled long and hard, fighting known and unknown creatures. He fought with all his skills and with all his prowess. After a couple months he finally arrived at the Sept and was greeted by more creatures wanting to kill him. Fortunately, the members of the Sept helped him and the night was won. And, after much debate, he was welcomed to the Sept. For the next year he has lived there finally getting some rest and a little bit of peace.

Ris has made a few friends and allies during his stay, and has learned more in the ways of combat. Ris is now living at a ripe old age of six, he knows he can be stubborn and rash in his decisions, but he lives his life as he feels it should. Finally, Ris to this day has not mated, and he does not plan on mating anytime soon, despite the efforts of those who try otherwise.
